In 2026, the GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) market gained a heavyweight player: Tencent officially launched its own GEO platform, AnswerBit (answerbit.qq.com), under the Tencent Device Services (TDS) product alliance.
For every brand still wondering whether AI visibility is a real business, this launch is the clearest possible answer — when a company the size of Tencent ships a GEO tool, the category no longer needs to prove itself.
For us at GEOly, the launch carries a second meaning: open AnswerBit's product page and you will find a product framework, feature naming, and metric system that mirror GEOly almost one-to-one. In this article we break AnswerBit down completely — how Tencent understands GEO, where it converges with and diverges from GEOly, and what brands should do about it.
Key Takeaways
Tencent has launched AnswerBit (answerbit.qq.com), a GEO platform built on four modules — MONITOR / ANALYZE / OPTIMIZE / COLLABORATE — with daily tracking of five major Chinese LLMs: Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, and Qianwen.
AnswerBit's framework is structurally identical to GEOly's: multi-engine monitoring, the mention-rate/ranking/citation triad, citation-domain tracing, and a composite visibility score. The "standard shape" of a GEO tool is converging industry-wide.
The real divide is market radius: AnswerBit only covers Chinese LLMs, while GEOly covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot — two engine matrices with zero overlap.
The second divide is product depth: AnswerBit does general-purpose brand visibility; GEOly goes deep into agentic commerce — the AI shopping shelf, SKU cards, price bands, and ChatGPT ads monitoring.
Tencent's entry is the most authoritative validation the GEO category could receive — and a signal that the window is closing: LLM citations compound, so the later a brand starts building AI source assets, the more expensive catching up becomes.
What Is AnswerBit? Tencent's "Operating System for AI Answer Visibility"
AnswerBit's homepage taglines are refreshingly direct:
"Make every piece of information the AI's top answer"
"When AI answers, be the citation"
"If your brand isn't recommended in AI answers, you're absent from the decision chain"
These three lines are essentially the canonical GEO narrative: search no longer ends at ten blue links but at an AI-generated answer, and the battlefield has shifted from "what do I rank" to "am I mentioned, cited, and recommended by the AI."
Daily multi-platform LLM monitoring, automatically collecting answers in parallel from Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qianwen, and other major models
ANALYZE
Trace how the AI describes your brand answer by answer, analyze top-cited domains and source articles, view trends grouped by topic
OPTIMIZE
Pick high-citation reference articles based on citation insights, generate optimized articles with AI, then track metric changes after publishing
COLLABORATE
Multi-team, multi-brand collaboration with centralized brand and competitor configuration
The workflow is a four-step loop: configure monitoring scope → collect multi-model answers → analyze visibility gaps → optimize and verify. The core metric is a composite "exposure effectiveness score" combining brand mention rate, average ranking, and citation quality. Tencent claims most teams get their first visibility report within 5 minutes of setup, with daily automatic updates afterward.
The first users are largely Tencent's own products — Tencent Cloud, Tencent Meeting, and the YingYongBao app store — with trials open to leading teams across industries. Pricing has not been published.
Module by Module: Does Tencent Actually Get GEO?
MONITOR is AnswerBit's most solid layer today. It covers five major Chinese LLMs — Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qianwen — with daily automated parallel collection. For brands whose main battlefield is mainland China, this engine mix is the right one: Doubao rides the Douyin ecosystem, Yuanbao rides WeChat, and DeepSeek is the default for developers and knowledge workers. Together they cover the main entry points of AI Q&A traffic in China.
ANALYZE nails the key GEO insight: AI answers are not conjured from thin air — they have citation sources. Tracing "how the AI describes your brand" and analyzing "top-cited domains and source articles" is exactly the watershed between GEO and classic SEO: you are no longer optimizing your own page rankings, but the entire source ecosystem of "who speaks for you."
OPTIMIZE is AnswerBit's most distinctive move: pick high-citation reference articles from citation insights, generate optimized articles with AI, publish, and track the metric delta. Turning "monitor — analyze — produce content — verify" into an assembly line is classic Tencent tooling philosophy: productize a complex strategy into a push-button operation.
COLLABORATE reveals the target customer: multi-team, multi-brand management is built for conglomerates and agencies, not for a single DTC brand.
Overall verdict: AnswerBit is a structurally complete, textbook GEO 1.0 product. Daily monitoring, citation tracing, a closed loop that holds together. With it, Tencent confirmed one thing — the standard shape of a GEO tool has converged: multi-engine monitoring + the mention/ranking/citation triad + citation-source analysis + an optimization loop.
Look Familiar? How AnswerBit Maps Onto GEOly
If you have used GEOly, AnswerBit's product page will likely make you smile. Put the two product structures side by side:
Dimension
Tencent AnswerBit
GEOly
Core narrative
"When AI answers, be the citation"
"Brand intelligence for AI search & agentic commerce"
Monitored engines
Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qianwen (5 Chinese LLMs)
ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and other global engines
Panorama data across 2,400+ categories and 190,000+ brands
Commerce depth
None
AI shopping shelf: SKU card activation, retail price and price-band monitoring, ChatGPT ads tracking

The structural isomorphism is plain to see: monitor multi-engine answers, decompose the mention/ranking/citation triad, trace cited domains, output one composite visibility score. AnswerBit's "exposure effectiveness score" and GEOly's AIGVR are two packagings of the same class of metric. This is not a question of who copied whom — it means the "correct answer" for GEO tooling is converging industry-wide, and that answer is what GEOly has been building since day one. Tencent's entry amounts to the most authoritative methodology endorsement the category has ever received.
The Real Divide: Market Radius and Product Depth
The frameworks converge; the divide sits in two places.
First, market radius. AnswerBit monitors Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, and Qianwen — Chinese LLMs across the board. That defines its job as "brand AI visibility within mainland China." GEOly's brand visibility tracking monitors ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot — the engines global consumers, especially in Western markets, actually use when they ask an AI what to buy. For globalizing brands, these two engine matrices have zero overlap and cannot substitute for each other. Your American customer will never open Yuanbao to ask for the best power station, and your Chinese customer will not use Copilot to research robot vacuums.
Second, product depth. AnswerBit does general-purpose "brand AI visibility"; its first users are Tencent Cloud and Tencent Meeting — B2B and utility products — so the logic is brand-PR-shaped: "does the AI describe me correctly?" GEOly has been anchored in e-commerce and agentic commerce from day one: beyond "does the AI mention me," AI shopping monitoring watches whether your SKU cards are activated on the AI shopping shelf and whether retail prices and price bands are correct, the ChatGPT ads library tracks AI search ad performance, and panorama data across 2,400+ categories and 190,000+ brands shows exactly where you stand. When AI evolves from answering questions to placing orders for users, visibility monitoring must evolve into product-level, shelf-level monitoring — a layer AnswerBit has not touched at all.
In one sentence: AnswerBit is a brand visibility tool for Chinese LLMs; GEOly is a brand growth intelligence platform for global AI search and AI shopping.
Tencent Is In. What Should Brands Do?
Three judgments, for reference:
1. The GEO window is confirmed — and closing. Tencent's habit is to wait for a category to be validated, then harvest it with ecosystem advantages. AnswerBit's launch means GEO in China has moved from "pioneer experiments" to "big tech defines the standard." The later a brand starts accumulating AI source assets, the more expensive the catch-up — LLM citation preferences show a strong Matthew effect, and highly cited domains keep getting reinforced.
2. Domestic and global are two separate exams; you need to sit both. If your business is China-only, tools covering Chinese LLMs like AnswerBit are worth adopting. But if you are a global brand — your growth markets are in the West and purchase decisions happen inside ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews — you need a platform like GEOly that monitors global engines and understands commerce, paired with competitor analysis to see how much Share of Model your rivals are taking. Anker, eufy, soundcore, and Roborock are already doing this.
3. Stop staring only at mention rate; watch the shopping shelf. The GEO 1.0 that AnswerBit represents answers "what does the AI say about me." The agentic commerce era asks "will the AI buy me on the consumer's behalf." Whether your SKUs enter AI recommendation cards, whether price data is accurate, which sources drive the AI's recommendation — those are the metrics wired directly to revenue.
FAQ
Are AnswerBit and GEOly direct competitors?
Structurally similar, commercially almost non-overlapping. AnswerBit monitors Chinese LLMs (Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qianwen) and serves brand visibility inside mainland China; GEOly monitors global engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot) and serves brand globalization. The two engine matrices have zero overlap and cannot replace each other.
Can AnswerBit monitor ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews?
Based on its public website, no. AnswerBit's scope is five major Chinese LLMs (Doubao, Yuanbao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qianwen). Brands that need visibility tracking on overseas AI engines should use a platform that covers global engines.
How should a global brand combine these tools?
Use a Chinese-LLM tool (such as AnswerBit) for the domestic market, and a global-engine, commerce-aware platform (such as GEOly) for overseas markets. The source ecosystems, citation preferences, and optimization playbooks are different on each side — monitor and optimize them separately.
What does Tencent's entry mean for the GEO industry?
It is the most authoritative validation the category could get: a trillion-dollar company decided that "position inside AI answers" deserves a dedicated product. It also means the window is closing — LLM citation preferences compound, so brands that build AI source assets earlier dig deeper moats.
